| Mark Thorson is the president and principal
consultant of InterActive Strategies Group, an ten-year old marketing consulting firm
based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In addition to providing a broad range of traditional
marketing services, InterActive Strategies Group helps businesses and other organizations
integrate their marketing efforts with emerging Internet-based marketing and sales
opportunities. With over twenty years of marketing,
business development, public relations and business management experience, Thorson
develops practical, results-oriented marketing programs that deliver results in
todays fast changing world. He is an excellent business writer and is experienced in
business research, planning and strategy. In addition to his traditional marketing skills,
Thorson is technically astute and Internet savvy.
For much of his career, Thorson has been heavily involved
in the online interactive information services industry. His experience includes the
development and marketing of online information retrieval and messaging networks, and
systems for the online delivery of customer services and information. This depth of
experience allows Thorson to envision the true value of the Internet and to help his
clients to focus on the real marketing opportunities provided by this new interactive
communications medium.
Mark Thorsons career and consulting experience
includes high technology companies, financial organizations, small and emerging
businesses, associations, non-profits and public sector organizations. He has worked with
or is actively engaged with organizations such as National Computer Systems (NCS),
Hennepin County MN, Open Systems, Control Data Corporation (Ceridian), Local Government
Information Network (LOGIN), Metropolitan Financial Management and numerous small
business, government and non-profit organizations.
Thorsons academic background and professional and
community involvement also helps him to provide a unique perspective to clients. A
graduate of the University of Minnesota, Thorson holds a degree in Urban Studies with
advanced coursework in Economics and Economic Geography.
Thorson is a member of the Board of Directors
of the Minneapolis and the Bloomington Chambers of Commerce; a past Planning Commissioner
and past Traffic
and Transportation Advisory Commission member for the City of
Bloomington, and currently serves on the city's Housing and
Redevelopment Authority (HRA); he was a member of the Board
of Directors of the Minnesota Software Association and Telecommuter Resources, Inc. during
each organizations start-up phase; and he is an active volunteer/leader in a
numerous other community organizations.
